I haven't had mehendi (henna) done since my India days, so it was a special treat when one of my ESL students showed up with her mehendi cone one day this week. This was actually a belated Christmas present, but we never got around to it during the Christmas season. I was so happy to be able to get to know this student much more over the hour it took to finish the mehendi. I found out that although she is from North India, she loves and knows so much about South Indian culture, which I am most familiar with. She told me all about the South Indian dishes she likes to cook. When I asked how she learned to cook South Indian style she said, "Google, of course!". Duh. :) I learned more about her family, what she thinks of NYC, the best new Bollywood movies to see and where she goes to temple.
Please pray for this student, Rajana. She worships Ganesh, the god who removes obstacles. Pray that she would know the Jesus, the Strong Tower and Prince of Peace who is able to conquer all obstacles. Nothing is too great for Him! Pray she and her husband would know these truths.
